Group & Activities

There are many ways for people to exercise their talents at St. John's.

Ladies Mission Circle: Meets on the third Thursday of each month.  We meet for bible study and discussion.  Every year we make quilts and gather clothing for the poor.

Men's Club: Meets on the first Monday each month.  The Men's club meets for the study of God's Word and fellowship.  We host the Easter breakfast each year and financially support mission needs.

Lutheran Youth Fellowship: This is a group for high school students.  We meet on the third Wednesday each month.  The LYF tries to host several events throughout the year for fun and fellowship.  Events range from hay rides to bowling to swimming and skiing.  We also invite LYF members to go on a special mission trip if they so desire.  About every three years a group of high school youth, accompanied by adults travel overseas for a work project.  This year our LYF is going to Lithuania to help paint a Church.  In past years we have gone to England; once to landscape a church property and once to redo a floor that was falling apart in a church in London.  Funds for plane fare are usually covered for the kids through fund raising efforts.

We also have opportunities for people musically gifts to use their talents:

Bell Choir: We have three octave bell choir at our congregation.  This choir usually starts practice in September and breaks in May or June for the Summer.  The bell choir plays in Church about once a month.

Sr. Choir: If your talents lie in singing, then feel free to join our adult choir.  Practices are on Wednesday evenings and the choir sings in Church about once a month.  We may also hold a cantata during either Christmas or Easter seasons.

Jr. Choir: Every Wednesday from 6:00 to 6:30 the children who come to Midweek classes practice for Jr. Choir.  It's a great way to train their voices and get the used to singing out in Church as Adults.

Special Music:  A number of our members have gifts with certain musical instruments.  We try to accommodate those who wish to play their instruments in Church.  Musical selections appropriate for worship are discussed with our pastor and organist.  Once a suitable piece is found we are happy to encourage it to be shared with the congregation as part of our regular Worship.
